This version is the Sonic pressing plant variation and can be identified by the text on the labels and by the SON etched in the runout grooves. Delle nove tracce, solo due sono classici temi strumentali da film. Comanda un basso serafico, su cui giocano timide le chitarre.
Un piccolo esemplare di canzone tagliente. Solo queste ultime due canzoni basterebbero a rendere "Superfly" un ottimo disco e a consacrare la formula di Mayfield, geniale sintesi del funk di Isaac Hayes, dei suoi testi consapevoli, e del tocco magico del Curtis performer su tutto il modo delizioso in cui pronuncia la parola "pusherman". Ma non finisce qui Funk puro, tiratissimo. Senza la dolce voce sofferente di Curtis, la musica diviene definitivamente cattiva.
Sempre inteso alla maniera di Curtis Mayfield, beninteso. Solare come nessuna prima, ma ambigua come il titolo.
